Program Structure
There are four main sections of the CFE Exam Prep Course and the CFE Exam:

 
1. Fraud Prevention and Deterrence
Tests your knowledge of why people commit fraud and what can be done to prevent it. Topics covered in this section include crime causation, white-collar crime, fraud prevention, fraud risk assessment and the ACFE Code of Professional Ethics.

2. Financial Transactions and Fraud Schemes
Reviews the types of fraudulent financial transactions in accounting records. To pass this section, you will be required to demonstrate knowledge of basic accounting theory, numerous types of occupational and external fraud schemes and internal controls to prevent and detect fraud.

3. Law
Ensures that you are familiar with the many legal ramifications of conducting fraud examinations, including criminal and civil law, rules of evidence, rights of the accused and accuser, and expert witness matters.

4. Investigation
Includes questions about interviewing, analyzing data, obtaining information from public records, tracing illicit transactions, evaluating deception and writing reports.
